Wide open road between Moab and Capitol Reef. I think I got the Jeep up to 60mph. Sure do wish I had the Vette. Capitol Reef had some amazing day hikes. Canyons and mountains everywhere with spectacular vistas around almost every corner. These little man made rock formations are called carines. They are used to mark trails so you don't get lost. On this hike across huge rock slabs carines are the only way to tell where the trail leads. Here is a view of Casidy Arch about 8 miles into a canyon. A view from the top of Casidy Arch. The hike lead us down to the road you see in the distance. We followed that road for more than 5 miles to make our way back to town. From Capitol Reef I continued Southwest to meet up with Mom and Jerry at Bryce Canyon. Several of the roads were built across finns of mountain formations. Sheer cliffs on either side with no guard rails. I can't imagine what this would be like to drive in a large RV. |
