The party that never stops...Bourbon St. Here is a picture of my friend Sundeep and our new local friend Brian. This is a great story. About a month ago Sundeep and our friend Scott were in New Orleans and trying to get tickets to a sold out John Mayer concert. They ran into this guy Brian who was also looking a ticket. Brian found someone selling two tickets together for face value. Since he only needed one he found Sundeep and Scott and let them take the tickets. Eventually Brian did get a ticket for himself. Sundeep, Scott, Brian and Brian's wife hung out all weekend. Spent the day at one of the many fine New Orleans social establishments. Mike and Sundeep were convinced by the bartenders to try the house beverage "the diver". Basically it was served in a bucket. I stayed with a trusty Guinness. Believe it or not we stumbled into a casino and just for fun decided to play craps to kill some time. We immediately got the table fired up and a huge crowd around us and cheering. Less than an hour later we each walked out with $300. Times are good!!! Ummm...looking back it probably wasn't a good idea to have a total stranger take a picture of us waiving hundreds of dollars in cash around on the streets of New Orleans. The next night dinner at the famous Dickey Brennans...hey easy come easy go! My friends left on Sunday night and since Brian knew I was still in town he and I went to a concert at the famous House of Blues. We saw Edwyn McCain in this fantastic music venue. Since I was there on Veteran's day I thought it appropriate to visit the National D-Day Museum. The exhibits were extremely well done. There were also several movies describing the planning process that were facinating. I also learned that the boats they used (called Higgins Boats) where built in New Orleans. The flags represent the relative size of the respective armies. From New Orleans I drove to Pensecola to visit the National Naval Aviation Museum. I ended up spending 4 hours there and seeing two IMAX shows that were amazing! Ok...something finally didn't go according to plan. Someone hit my car in the hotel parking lot even though it was defensively parked. Unfortunately it happened during the night and the person took off. I filed a police report, packed up the car and pressed on!! |
