There is only one thing that could get me to leave Santa Barbara and the wedding of my roommate of 8 years and his amazingly beautiful bride Joann is it. I was up at 5am on Friday morning to catch a shuttle from SB to LA. Boarded the plane at 10am and landed in Philly at 7pm. I missed the rehearsal and arrived about 45min late to the dinner. The party didnt stop from that moment on. Just a word of warning to all of you. Once you fly first class you will never fly coach again. How cool is Joann? I'm convinced this picture could make the cover of Cigar Aficionado. I know, a great looking bunch of guys. The bridal party. Men in Black. I was paired up with the lovely Megan. Joann's youngest sister. I've agreed to freeze myself for 10 years so we can get married. Megan did a great job of boxing out the rest of the girls and jumping about 5 feet of vertical to catch the bouquet. The rest of the guys knew that was my girl so I had no trouble catching the garter. I could see Dad out of the corner of my eye and quickly stopped around mid calf. Our roommate of five years Rick Murphy strikes again. If you invite him to your wedding and you have cameras on the table you can expect a picture of feet. I'm happy to say he's really matured over the years. Just two years ago John and Daniel had not only feet on one of the cameras but also a toilet bowl. Good ole Murph! Dan and the ladies. Clearly Joann's Dad was a bad bad younger man. Four beautiful daughters was his punishment. The obligatory cigar. Ok, I'm really bad at this. I was standing over the railing drooling and spitting for 30min until the things was gone. A small price to pay to look cool. Just after the reception and before the post reception party someone had the crazy idea of jumping in the pool in full formal wear...oh wait it was my idea. Luckily the best man Eric was the only one drunk enough to do it. Here we are just relaxing after our little stunt in the hot tub. The post part got a little out of control. Girls on tables, 16 pizzas, subs, and cheese steaks, all devoured by a pack of wild animals. I know the picture didn't come out all that well, however, this is the groom wearing a childs police motor cycle helmet. Two guys were even crazy enough to open the cash bar for the rest of the night, probably the type of guys who would jump in pools with tuxedos on or hit on girls from the evening wedding. Hmmm...some guy from our wedding party hitting on girls from the evening wedding. Introducing the source of our entertainment late night, Todd. Not only did he go into the reception party for the evening wedding to dance with the girls from the previous photo, but he also helped himself to some wedding cake and drinks.
Here you can see Todd giving it one last try while sitting in the child's play area. Unfortunately lady luck was not in Todd's corner. These girls were both lesbians and one was even deaf and mute. Todd was having some communication issues already at this point and needing to sign wasn't helping.
The next day Joann's parents had a pool party, brunch, bbq. Here our MVP struggles to maintain consciousness.
This was one of the most fun weddings Ive ever attended.
